Peacock Grove is a certified organic/biodynamic farm near Maitland in the Hunter Valley wine country. Our farm is 150 acres on which we grow 2000 olive trees and raise beef cattle.

WWOOFers (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) work alongside us for a number of hours a day and we, in return, provide them with full board and lodging.

We have a policy of allowing WWOOFers to stay three days initially after which longer stays can be mutually agreed.

Farm Duties

Work is varied and seasonal and includes general farm work and maintenance such as caring for the olive trees by weeding, mulching, prep spraying, pruning, harvesting, etc. Work also includes assistance with making biodynamic preparations and compost making.

Work with the cattle includes setting up temporary electric fencing and cattle handling.

Work also includes help with some household duties such as window cleaning, general cleaning and gardening.

WWOOFers will not be expected to use tractors or chain saws unless they have completed the necessary safety training courses.

Accommodation

We can accommodate one to two WWOOFers in our on-site caravan located near our home. You will have the use of your own bathroom.

We are not able to allow children on our farm. We have a mixed diet with includes our own beef and bread. Smoking is permitted but outside only.

We will pick WWOOFers up from Maitland. Our contact details are peacockgrove@hunterlink,net.au , phone 4923 8596 after dark, or 0417 292 642 any time, or mail PO Box 232 Rutherford 2320.
